My Breastmilk Tastes like Strawberries

So the other day my daughter was getting dressed after her bath and she looked down and exclaimed proudly, "I have nipples!" She said it like she just realized it. Then she looked at me and said, " I have nipples, and you have mama's {our codeword for boobs and nursing}."

"Yep." I said.

"I used to suck on your mama's when I was a baby." She said.

"Yes you did." I said. Then I asked her, "Did you like it?"

"Mmmm-hmmmm." She said with a grin.

"Do you remember it?" I asked.

"Mmmm-hmmmm."

"What did it taste like?" I asked her.

Stopping to give it some careful consideration, she said, "...........STRAAAAAAAWBERRIES!!!" with a huge smile on her face!

How great is that?! But the totally cool thing is that strawberries were and still are her all-time favorite food. What a huge compliment coming from her. I love to know that she equates nursing with the sweetest, happiest food/feeling she knows :)

I can totally picture that entire conversation. The sound of Dakota's voice and her expressions, too cute. It's cool to know she remembers it and that is was a good thing for her.

Ashlyn has been asking a lot of those same questions to me lately. Nursing questions{as she stare at them} And ever now and then I catching her nursing her babies. It's pretty cute =)

one of my sons once said my milk tasted like a super-pop...some crazy lollipop he had had once & loved that changed flavors. I love that You (& I) were able to talk with our kids about it & they remembered - one of the nice parts of extended nursing!

How have you been?

We've been great! Dakota is a full-on rambling, go-go-go toddler (turning 3 in only a month and a half from now!) and Levi is growing WAY too fast. I just hold him and squish him and kiss all over him all day. I can't get enough of that boy.

Glad to see you again, I just love your new hair!

Hey Ana!
How fun to see you here! Aren't you having a baby soon? There's so many people pregnant right now it's becoming hard for me to keep track!

That's so sweet, Corin! How old was your daughter when she weaned?

We weaned right after my son was born, so she was a about two years and two months. I've been wanting to write about it for so long now! Hopefully soon!
